Firstmind is a small custom studio on Beach Boulevard, on the east side of Jacksonville. You sit with the artist who will tattoo you, talk the idea through, and leave with a drawing made for your body. Nothing off a wall.

How a piece
gets made
Four things happen between the idea in your head and the tattoo on your arm.
Draw
Your artist draws the piece for your body, then sizes the stencil against it on the day.
Set up
Single-use needles, fresh caps, wrapped machine. Opened in front of you.
Tattoo and heal
Long sessions get broken into sittings so the skin stays workable. You leave wrapped, with written aftercare and a number to text if anything looks off. Touch-ups on our work are free.
Aftercare
Heal it right
Sun, salt and humidity are hard on fresh ink. This is what we tell everyone who walks out of the shop.
First 24 hours
- Leave the wrap on for as long as your artist told you, not longer.
- Wash once with clean hands and unscented soap, then pat dry.
- Nothing that makes you sweat. In a Jacksonville August that includes standing outside.
Week one
- Thin layer of unscented lotion two or three times a day.
- It will flake and itch. Do not pick it and do not scratch it.
- Stay out of the ocean, the river, the pool and the hot tub until it has closed over.
Living with it in Florida
- Sunscreen every time. Sun is what fades linework here, not age.
- At the beach, shade and a shirt beat SPF on skin that is still healing.
- Text the shop if anything looks hot, raised or wrong.
- Touch-ups on our work are free. Just book them.
